A new trailer has revealed four new Pokémon and given further details on the two Pokémon revealed in this month's CoroCoro Comic. Additionally, it reveals details on Hyper Training and the Pokémon Global Link.
Wimpod is a Bug/Water-type Pokémon. It has the new Ability Wimp Out, which causes it to flee or switch out when its HP falls below half.
Bounsweet is a Grass-type Pokémon. It can have either Leaf Guard or Oblivious as its Ability.
Comfey is a Fairy-type Pokémon. It can have either Flower Veil or the new Ability Triage as its Ability. Triage gives the highest priority to HP-restoring moves used by the Pokémon with this Ability.
Mudsdale is a Ground-type Pokémon. It can have either Own Tempo or the new Ability Stamina as its Ability. Stamina boosts its Defense by one stage when hit by an attack.
Mimikyu (known in Japanese as Mimikkyu) is a Ghost/Fairy. It has the new Ability Disguise, which allows its disguise to take a hit for it one time (preventing Mimikyu from taking damage); if it does, its disguise gets busted, and Mimikyu slumps down. It was originally revealed in this month's CoroCoro.
Bewear is a Normal/Fighting-type Pokémon. It can have either the new Ability Fluffy or Klutz as its Ability. Fluffy halves the damage taken from contact moves, but doubles the damage taken from Fire-type moves. It was originally revealed in this month's CoroCoro.
Using the Pokémon Global Link, players will be able to host their own Friendly Competitions. Friendly Competition can be run as either Online Competitions (over the internet) or Live Competitions (locally).
Players can set their own rules for Friendly Competitions. For Live Competitions, whoever creates the rules can generate a QR code that other players can scan to allow the rules to be applied to their game.
Online Competitions can be set as either open, or restricted to only specific people. When the number of participants exceeds a certain number, Pokémon ranking will also be calculated, just as in official Online Competitions.
A screenshot of the creation screen for an Online Competition shows that the player has the following options:
- Battle format: Single or Double
- Eligible Pokémon:
- Alola Pokédex or National Pokédex
- "Including Pokémon via Pokémon Bank" or "Limited to Pokémon obtained in Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon"
- Competition period (the dates the competition will run)
- Time limits
- Number of battles allowed per day
- Competition type: Public or Private
- Participating Trainers: Everyone or Specified Trainer Only
Hyper Training, a new method of boosting a Pokémon's stats, will appear in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Whereas Super Training allows the player to increase a Pokémon's EVs (officially referred to as base stats), Hyper Training allows players to increase a level 100 Pokémon's IVs (officially referred to as individual strengths). This is the first time in the games that it will be possible to modify a Pokémon's IVs after it is obtained.
Hyper Training is done by Mr. Hyper, an NPC in the games. He performs Hyper Training in exchange for Bottle Caps, which are rare items the player can obtain in Pokémon Sun and Moon. The Magearna that will be distributed for the games this year will hold a Silver Bottle Cap.
