The Holiday 2017 event for Pokémon GO is now live. The event coincides with the release of new Water- and Ice-type Pokémon in the game.
During the event, festive hat Pikachu appear in the wild, just like last year's event. Additionally, Ice-type Pokémon appear more often. The end date for the event as a whole has not been announced.
Additionally, new Water- and Ice-type Pokémon from Generation III have been added to the game, including the Feebas, Carvanha, Wailmer, Luvdisc, Relicanth, and Snorunt evolutionary lines, among others. These Pokémon will remain even after the event ends. Delibird is also available in the game.
Between December 22 and 25 (1 pm PST), the first Photo Disc the player spins each day (at a PokéStop or Gym) will award a single-use Egg Incubator.
Furthermore, special boxes are available from the in-game shop.
- From December 21 to 25 (1 pm PST), special boxes will feature items such as Super Incubators, Lure Modules, and the all-new Star Pieces (which earn bonus Stardust for 30 minutes when activated).
- The Winter Box costs 480 PokéCoins and includes 2 Incenses, 2 Egg Incubators, and 5 Star Pieces.
- The Super Box costs 780 PokéCoins and includes 4 Super Incubators, 10 Razz Berries, and 10 Star Pieces.
- The Ultra Box costs 1480 PokéCoins and includes 8 Super Incubators, 10 Pinap Berries, 25 Star Pieces, and 10 Lure Modules.
- From December 25 to January 4, 2018 (1 pm PST), special boxes will feature items such as Premium Raid Passes, Super Incubators, and Star Pieces.
