As of Jan. 26th, 2018 Pokémon Crystal is available Worldwide on the 3ds family of systems Virtual Console. The definitive edition of the Second Generation players will be able to experience the games on a new level. The virtual release is offering the GS Ball to players who buy the game.

This is also the first Pokémon game to offer a female protagonist, and the Battle Tower. This generation also marks the introduction of Dark and Steel typing's, day/night cycles, and Eggs.

The Wireless Communications on the 3ds family will be fully utilized by the games software, and Pokémon Bank, and Pokémon Transporter support will be added soon, so functionality between Crystal and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon will exist with transporting Pokémon.
