A birthday Pokémon event distribution has been announced for Japan. Starting Oct. 12, 2013, players may receive one of 10 different Pokémon for their Pokémon X and Y games at a Pokémon Center on their birthday. The player must bring proof of their birthday to receive the Pokémon.

Pikachu, Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon are the Pokémon to choose from. Players also get a birthday crown, a birthday card with their name on it, and a 5% off coupon for the day.

The Birthday Special Coupon can only be used on the day it is issued. It cannot be combined with other discount promotions. The discount does not apply to game consoles, related electronics, game software, or gift and point cards.
