The official Pokémon Bank website has launched, giving more details about Pokémon Bank. Additionally, a trailer for Pokémon Bank has been uploaded to the official Pokémon YouTube channel.

Poké Miles or Battle Points (the player's choice of which) are awarded based on the number of Pokémon deposited, and the length of time they are deposited for. These currencies can be transferred to Pokémon X and Y with a feature called Pokémon Link.

A player's Pokémon Bank account is connected to their Nintendo Network ID; since a Nintendo Network ID can only be connected to a single 3DS system, Pokémon Bank can only be accessed from that same system. Because of this, while the 3DS and Pokémon X and Y are region-locked, a game of any region or language can be inserted into the 3DS and still communicate with Pokémon Bank.

After the 30-day free trial, or if a player's annual subscription is not renewed and runs out, the player will be able to withdraw their Pokémon from the Pokémon Bank for a short time before they are lost. If the subscription is renewed before this set period is up, players can still recover these Pokémon. The length of this time period is not specified.

There are several Pokémon that cannot be sent to Pokémon Bank via Poké Transporter. These Pokémon are compared to the ones that cannot be sent through Pal Park and the ones that cannot be sent through Poké Transfer, which include only Pokémon that know HM moves, Eggs and the Spiky-eared Pichu.

Pokémon cannot be traded directly from Pokémon Bank.
