Update: The location of the European International Championships has been announced.
Details on the 2018 season of Play! Pokémon have been announced, including some details about the upcoming International Championships.
The official site warns that the following dates and locations are tentative and subject to change.
- The European International Championships will be held at ExCeL London in the United Kingdom from November 17 to 19, 2017, the same location it was held last year. Note that Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are released on November 17, 2017 worldwide.
- The Oceania International Championships will be held in Australia in February 2018.
- The Latin American International Championships will be held in Brazil in April 2018.
- The North American International Championships will be held in the United States. No date has been announced.
Additionally, many Regional Championships for the 2018 season in North America and Europe have been announced. See the official Pokémon site for a full list.
Furthermore, the Pokémon Video Game Rules, Formats, and Penalty Guidelines and Pokémon Trading Card Game Tournament Rules and Formats documents have been updated, taking effect immediately.
Notably, video game Premier Events must now be tethered by QR Code (or by local distribution should the event be run by or in conjunction with TPCi); all references to untethered events have been removed, as this event format is no longer supported within the Championship Series. Among other changes, the manual hack check from video games has been updated to allow Shiny Tapu Koko regardless of Original Trainer.
