Pokémon has joined with Zingy, Inc., the main mobile media provider in the United States, to launch Pokémon Mobile, according to information provided at the American International Toy Fair this week. This service will feature the first ever official Pokémon cell phone content, including wallpapers, ring tones and short videos.

Yves Saada, Pokémon USA's vice president of business development, praised the partnership.

"With mobile phone usage growing at an unprecedented rate and our fans looking for more on-demand content, it was a natural fit for Pokémon to expand into mobile media," Saada said. "Pokémon has always been a leader in technology and pop culture, and Pokémon Mobile will prove to be yet another innovative platform for us to interact with our fans."

Scott Debson, Zingy's vice president, has similar words.

"We're thrilled to be working with Pokémon to incorporate mobile into their marketing strategy," he said. "The addition of Pokémon-branded content to our portfolio further establishes Zingy as the premier mobile publisher for brands that impact pop culture."

Personalized downloads, available via Pokemon.com, will cost $1.99 on average and will be included on the consumer's monthly phone bill.

Also revealed was a one-hour television special entitled The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon that will debut on Kids' WB! in April. Few details have been made available about this special.
