Maddie Blaustein, the voice of Meowth in the English-language Pokémon dub from 1998-2006, died while sleeping on Thursday, PokéBeach and Serebii.net reported today. A blogger for 4Kids Entertainment later confirmed Blaustein's death. An official statement from Blaustein's family and colleagues is expected to come Wednesday, PokéBeach reports.

PokéBeach's anonymous source said Blaustein, 48, from New York, had reported not feeling well before she went to sleep and subsequently died.

Bulbanews has read a transcript of the conversation between PokéBeach and the anonymous source affiliated with 4Kids Entertainment and believes the transcript and the source to be authentic.

However, Bulbanews has not independently confirmed the report and will post additional official confirmation if or when it becomes available. As of today, no obituaries or death notices for the actress have appeared in New York-area newspapers.
