The latest scans from CoroCoro has revealed that Apricorns, a feature introduced in the original Generation II games, will return in their Generation IV remakes, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. These will be stored in a special compartment of the bag, known as the Apricorn Case, and can be used by Kurt to make some special Poké Balls. Specifically this refers to the Fast Ball, Friend Ball, Heavy Ball, Lure Ball, Love Ball, Level Ball, and Moon Ball. None of these balls have been seen since Pokémon Gold and Silver, although their effects have been replicated in some of the newer Poké Balls.

The Mystery Egg given to the player at the beginning of the game will also make a return. This Egg, given to the player by Mr. Pokémon must be delivered to Professor Elm: an event that kick-starts the entire game. The Pokémon inside the egg, however, remains to be confirmed. The Bug-Catching Contest at National Park is also confirmed to reappear; in addition to this is a new Safari Zone west of Cianwood City.

New events include an appearance of Rayquaza later in the game. It will be at level 50, and will require both Groudon and Kyogre to cause it to appear. Both of these Pokémon have been confirmed to appear in SoulSilver and HeartGold respectively.

The final piece of information available at this date is that, like in most new Pokémon games, a Battle Frontier will be included. This will be to the west of Olivine City, but further information (such as the different facilities and Frontier Brains) is not yet available.
