Additional details concerning Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! were announced in a trailer released by Nintendo.
It has been announced that there will be version-exclusive Pokémon. Oddish, Sandshrew, and Growlithe only appear in the wild in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!, while Bellsprout, Vulpix, and Meowth are only found in the wild in Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!
Catching Pokémon in the games is similar to the mechanics in Pokémon GO. The Joy-Con controller is used to aim the Poké Ball and then pressing A will throw the Poké Ball. Catch rates depend on timing and where the Poké Ball lands. Players can use different types of Poké Balls or they can give the wild Pokémon a Berry. Experience Points are shared between all party Pokémon.
Battling trainers will stay the same like all of the previous Pokémon RPGs. The Kanto region and the gyms will stay the same with Brock and Misty and their respective gyms showed off in trailer.
Players can also interact with their Pokémon. Players can dress up their partner Pokémon in various outfits, accessories, and hairstyles. Players can coordinate wardrobes or mix and match different items. Any Pokémon a player has caught can be their partner Pokémon. A player's partner Pokémon can find Hidden Items and there is an opportunity to ride certain Pokémon like Charizard, Lapras, Onix, and Arcanine.
Support Play is one of the key features in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! Players can boost their chances of catching a wild Pokémon by throwing Poké Balls at the same time. Players can join in as a Support Trainer by waving the second controller. Throwing the Poké Ball at the right time makes it more likely players will catch the Pokémon, and will earn the player additional XP. Support Play is also available in battles.
For internet-based communication features for battling and trading, players will need to enroll in the Nintendo Switch Online service that officially starts in September.
