A new promotional event in Pokémon GO, Adventure Week, will run from 1 pm on May 18 to 1 pm on May 25, 2017 (PDT).

During the event, the following changes will occur:

• Rock-type Pokémon will appear more often. The official announcement specifically mentions Omanyte, Kabuto, and Aerodactyl (and their evolutions) as being more common.
• More items will be awarded when searching PokéStops
• Buddy Pokémon will find Candies four times as fast
• Poké Balls will be 50% off in the in-game shop

Additionally, at the start of Adventure Week, a new avatar item, the Explorer's Hat, will be added to all players' wardrobes.
