Part of the grand prize — a Limited Edition Nintendo DS.

A Dialga and Palkia Limited Edition Nintendo DS and a copy of Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia will be the grand prize given away during the 12 Days of Bulbagarden competition to be held today through Dec. 25 on the Bulbagarden Forums.

Although the contest will last 12 days, there are 18 ways to win.

Every registered member of the Bulbagarden Forums who makes at least one substantial post to the forums during the contest period will automatically be entered into a random drawing for that day's prize. The prizes will start out small for today's winner and continue to the grand prize on Christmas.

Substantial posts are those that contribute new ideas or content to the forums. One- or two-word replies are not substantial. To prevent spam or duplicate postings, each member may only enter the contest once per day regardless of how many postings are made.

Art aficionados are encouraged to enter the concurrent Bulbasaur's Christmas Fanart Contest, and literary types have their own Best Battle Fanfic Contest.

In the Bulbasaur's Christmas Fanart Contest, judges (Bulbagarden staff members) will not base their decisions on art skills, but rather creativity. The three most creative entries expressing the theme of Bulbasaur's Christmas will win prizes.

In the Best Battle Fanfic Contest, writers should create a 3-vs.-3 Pokémon battle with one of the trainers being the author battling with his or her three favorite Pokémon. The opponent and his or her Pokémon can be anyone of the author's choosing, and the author may write from either first- or third-person perspective. Again, the judges will choose three winners based on the creativity expressed in the battles they describe.

Fanart entries should be in either .jpg or .png format and should be posted in the Bulbasaur's Christmas Fanart Contest Entry Thread in The Artist's Alcove at Bulbagarden Forums. Fanfic entries should be between 1,000-2,000 words and be posted in their entirety in the Best Battle Fanfic Contest Entry Thread in The Writers' Corner at Bulbagarden Forums.

Entries will be accepted today through Dec. 23, and winners will be announced on Dec. 25. Fanart and fanfics must be created exclusively for these contests, and anyone caught plagiarizing will be disqualified and banned from the forums for two weeks.

Members may enter regardless of where they live. Participation is optional. Members are not obligated to accept prizes or provide personal information to Bulbagarden. No purchase is necessary. Staff members are not eligible to win.

Bulbagarden thanks members for participating. Good luck, have fun and happy holidays.
