A Beta Competition for Pokémon X and Y has been announced. It is an international Double battles Wi-Fi tournament, where players may use all Pokémon in the National Pokédex except for transferred Pokémon, Mewtwo, Zygarde, Xerneas, Yveltal, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, . Pokémon will be set to level 30.
Prior to Feb. 3, registration will be limited to players who participated in the 2013 Global Showdown, received a ranking in the competition, and have registered their Pokémon X and Y games to the Pokémon Global Link. Those who didn't participate in Global Showdown may apply for the right of being a Test Monitor between Jan. 31 2:30 p.m. JST to Feb. 7 2:30 p.m. JST. Out of the applicants, 10,000 Japanese players will be selected at random. The tournament will be held from Feb. 21 until Feb. 24. The rankings will be announced Feb. 28. There will be a survey for the beta testers from Feb. 28 until March 7.
Players will be divided into two divisions. Those born on or later than Jan. 1, 1999 will be in the Junior Division. Those born on or before Dec. 31, 1998 will be in the Master Division. By law, Players in the Junior Division that live in South Korea and Japan may not participate between 11 p.m. and 5:59 a.m. Players may participate in a maximum of 20 battles per day. Players that do not participate in 20 battles in one day, may participate in the missed number of battles the next day plus the maximum that is normally allowed. For example, if they participated in 15 battles in one day, the next day they may participate in 25 battles.
