The upcoming Detective Pikachu movie's release date has been revealed. The film is set to debut in cinemas on May 10, 2019.

This reveal follows recent announcements of the lead actors: Ryan Reynolds will star in the movie as Pikachu, Justice Smith will play the male lead, and Kathryn Newton will play the female lead Lucy.

Additionally, a classification posted on PEGI's site has revealed that a video game under the title of "Detective Pikachu" will be rated PEGI 3. This likely refers to the video game Great Detective Pikachu ~Birth of a New Duo~, which is currently exclusive to Japan and has not been announced for release anywhere else. Jake McKnight‏, who works in information security for The Pokémon Company International, confirmed that this was a leak of a codename of an upcoming project.
