According to Shinobi-no-Enmachō, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl have sold 5 million units in Japan. The latest data from Enterbrain as provided by Famitsu estimates that 4,996,514 units had been sold as of April 8, the 28th week since the release of the games in September 2006. It is predicted that the games will continue selling around 20,000 units per week for some time.

In comparison, it is estimated that 5.35 million units of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire have been sold since their release in 2002. As for games that do not come in two editions, New Super Mario Brothers takes the lead at 4.35 million units sold, followed closely by More Brain Age at 4.20 million units and Animal Crossing: Wild World at 4 million units.

The U.S. release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl is Sunday.
