Pokémon Diamond and Pearl sold more than 1 million copies combined in the five-day period following their North American release on Sunday. About half of those copies were pre-ordered, according to Nintendo of America.
Sales of the games in Japan recently passed 5 million. By comparison, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire have sold 5.35 million copies in Japan since 2002. Diamond and Pearl were released in Japan in September 2006.
