Pokémon USA announced yesterday pre-release tournaments for the Diamond & Pearl expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The tournaments will be May 12-13 and May 19-20 in cities across the United States.

After paying an admission fee, players will receive six booster packs of Diamond & Pearl cards with which they will build their decks. Players may keep the cards, and those who complete the tournaments will receive two additional booster packs. All players will receive a pre-release promo card and a 'Diamond & Pearl promotional item,' according to Pokémon USA.

Players will be divided into three divisions: Junior (born in 1996 or later), Senior (born 1992-1995) and Masters (born in 1991 or earlier).

The Diamond & Pearl set is set to be fully released about two weeks after the tournaments.
