Friends feature announced for Pokémon GO

A Friends feature will be introduced in Pokémon GO later this week. It allows players to connect with friends, send them items, earn bonuses and trade Pokémon.
In order to add a friend in Pokémon GO, players must first ask for a Trainer Code and then send a request. If they accept, players will see their friends in the Friends List.
When players spin a Photo Disc at a PokéStop or Gym, there is a chance of receiving a special Gift. Players can send gifts received from PokéStops to a friend on their Friend List. The gift will have a number of items along with a postcard the PokéStop. Gifts can also contain a 7 km Alola Form Egg.
Sending gifts or participating in battles can increase a player's Friendship Level and this allows the opportunity to unlock new bonuses, such as an increased attack level during battles. Players can increase their Friendship Level once per day per friend.
If you are near a friend and have a Trainer Level of 10 or higher, you can trade Pokémon you have caught with that friend. Completing a trade earns a bonus Candy for the Pokémon you have traded away. In addition, this bonus increases if players trade Pokémon that were caught far away from each other. Trades are powered by Stardust, and some trades require more Stardust than others. Higher Friendship Levels means that trades can be completed using less Stardust.
A Special Trade (Legendary Pokémon, a Shiny Pokémon, or a Pokémon not currently in a player's Pokédex) only occur once per day with a Great Friend or Best Friend and requires a lot of Stardust to complete.
