Nintendo has announced that on July 8 it will begin selling a pastel pink Nintendo DS in honor of Mew, one of the stars of the upcoming Pokémon movie. The handheld also features silhouettes of the rare Pokémon on both the outside and inside of its case.
Pre-orders for this special edition handheld begin June 23, with the unit retailing for the standard DS price of 15,000 yen. This special edition Nintendo DS is a Pokémon Center online exclusive release, and will likely sell out in pre-orders, as the Rayquaza GBA SP did in 2004. While the Mew DS will not officially be made available by Nintendo outside of Japan, online Pokémon mail order store Wakaba Town is expected to offer a limited number of units for sale, though no price has yet been announced.
