Scans of the July issue of CoroCoro Comics to be released in Japan this week have emerged, providing several previously unknown Pokémon Diamond and Pearl details.

A major change from Generation III is the return of the 24-hour day, as utilized in Generation II. However, instead of simply having morning, day and night, the 24 hours will be split into morning, noon, afternoon, evening, and night.

Male and female Pokémon will now be visibly distinguishable in most, if not all, cases. Most female Pokémon will be smaller or will have reduced or lacking physical features.

The professor's name is ナナカマド博士 Dr. Nanakamado.

Trainers will be able to compare their weights to those of their Pokémon. A feature comparing size and height debuted in Generation III.

The ポケッチ Pokétch will be the equivalent of the PokéNav or PokéGear, and will have more than 20 functions, including time management and a type chart, as well as convenient functions such as immediate access to the status of Pokémon left at the Day Care.

Other details:

  • Manaphy is genderless.
  • Shin'ō is based on Hokkaido.
  • Ninety percent of Pokémon will be in some evolutionary chain.
  • Buoysel is the 56th entry in the Shin'ou Pokédex.
  • Buoysel's ability is Swift Swim, and it can know the move Agility.
  • Lucario's ability is Inner Focus, and it can know the attack Metal Claw.
  • Manaphy's ability is 潤いボディ Moist Body, which cures status effects during rain. Manaphy knows the move ハートスワップ Heart Swap.
