Pokémon GO Halloween event to introduce Generation III Ghost types

The Halloween 2017 event for Pokémon GO has been announced. The Halloween 2017 event will run from 12 pm on October 20 to 1 pm on November 2, 2017 (PDT). This event will make Generation III Pokémon available in the game for the first time, with a selection of them appearing during the event.
The Generation III Sableye, Shuppet, Banette, Duskull, and Dusclops will appear in the wild in Pokémon GO for the first time during the Halloween event. The rest of the Generation III Pokémon will gradually arrive starting this December.
During the event, players will earn twice as much Candy for catching Pokémon, hatching Eggs, and transferring Pokémon; additionally, buddy Pokémon will find Candy twice as fast. Gastly, Drowzee, Cubone, and other "spooky" Pokémon will be more common during the event. (It is hinted that all of the Pokémon that were more common during last year's event will be more common this year as well, which would include the Zubat and Meowth evolutionary families as well.) Misdreavus and Houndoom appear in the promotional artwork, hinting that they are Houndour will also be more common.
Players will also get the new clothing item Mimikyu's Disguise Hat. The Generation VII Pokémon Mimikyu, on which the hat is based, is not available in Pokémon GO, nor has it been announced for future availability.
Furthermore, special boxes will be available from the in-game shop during the event, featuring items such as Premium Raid Passes and Super Incubators.
Niantic wants players to share photos they take with Pokémon GO AR camera on social media using the hashtag #PokemonGOHalloween.
