The Pokémon Video Game Championships site has recently opened, revealing information on the event.

The Pokémon Video Game Championships announced that they will distribute a {{bp|Alternate coloration|Shiny}} {{p|Milotic}}.
The Regional Championships will be held on May 9 in Seattle, WA, May 16 in Francisco, CA, May 23 in Phoenix, AZ, May 30 in Dallas, TX, June 6 in Philadelphia, PA and June 13 in Nashville, TN. National Championships will be on June 27 in St. Louis, MO while the invitational World Championships will be held on Aug. 14 in San Diego, CA.

The site provides only basic information as its moves, level, ability, and other information. The Milotic will be at Level 50 with the {{a|Marvel Scale}} ability and with the moves {{m|Rain Dance}}, {{m|Recover}}, {{m|Hydro Pump}}, and {{m|Icy Wind}}. It will also hold a {{bp|Flame Orb}} and a Classic Ribbon.
All participants are required to use a North American version of {{game|Platinum}}. Players will compete in two divisions, depending on the year of their birth. All participants are required to fill out a ''Team Information Sheet'' during registration, placing the information on the Pokémon and {{bp|held items}} they will be using. The levels of the Pokémon entered should be lower than level 51. Pokémon that are level 51 or higher may not be entered. Certain Pokémon and their forms will also be banned from the championships. These are {{p|Mew}}, {{p|Mewtwo}}, {{p|Tyranitar}}, {{p|Lugia}}, {{p|Ho-Oh}}, {{p|Celebi}}, {{p|Kyogre}}, {{p|Groudon}}, {{p|Rayquaza}}, {{p|Jirachi}}, {{p|Deoxys}}, {{p|Rotom}}, {{p|Dialga}}, {{p|Palkia}}, {{p|Giratina}}, {{p|Phione}}, {{p|Manaphy}}, {{p|Darkrai}}, {{p|Shaymin}} and {{p|Arceus}}. Other rules and restrictions may be found on the link below.

The event will have the following stops: May 9 at Seattle, WA, May 16 at Francisco, CA, May 23 at Phoenix, AZ, May 30 at Dallas, TX, June 6 at Philadelphia, PA, and June 13 at Nashville, TN.
The site also provided information on a distribution that will occur. Participants of the championships may receive a {{Shiny}} {{p|Milotic}}, similar to the {{bp|WCS Milotic|one given away in Japan}} {{bp|2008 TCG World Championships|last year}}. The Milotic will be male and in a Cherish Ball. It will be at Level 50 with the moves {{m|Rain Dance}}, {{m|Recover}}, {{m|Hydro Pump}}, and {{m|Icy Wind}}. It will also hold a {{bp|Flame Orb}} and a Classic Ribbon, preventing it from being traded over the {{bp|Global Trade Station}}.

This Milotic is similar to the Shiny Milotic given out in Japan last year for the {{bp|List_of_Nintendo_event_Pokémon_in_2008#TCG_World_Championships_2008_Milotic|2008 TCG World Championships}}.
