Ash and co. are relaxing in Désert City and then they come across Hoopa and its two human friends Barza and Mary. They tell Ash and co. about the story of the Hoopa's alternate form, Unbound Hoopa and how it causes chaos 100 years ago. They also explain to Ash and co. about Hoopa and the Prison Bottle, and then in the present day, Unbound Hoopa arrives in Désert City. {{bp|Ash's Pikachu|Pikachu}} ends up saving Ash and Hoopa by attacking Unbound Hoopa with his {{m|Thunderbolt}}.
