Following the success of ''{{wp|Ingress (video game)|Ingress}}'' and ''{{bp|Pokémon GO}}'', {{bp|Niantic}} has announced a new augmented reality game titled ''Harry Potter: Wizards Unite'' featuring the ''{{wp|Harry Potter}}'' franchise. It is scheduled to be released in 2018.

As with their previous AR titles, the game will encourage exploration, exercise, and real-world social interaction. In particular, it will include learning real spells, hunting legendary beasts, and toppling powerful enemies.

Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment is partnering with Niantic for the project, in which Niantic has expressed joy in cooperating with. Niantic hopes to use the venture to pioneer new technology within the game. Niantic also hopes to help players capture the feel of J.K Rowlings' wizarding world in new ways.
