According to today's announcement of the Pokémon Festa 2008 events in Yokohama and Osaka, Japan, the organizers of the event are intending to increase the security of the events and lower waiting times in front of the entrances by restricting access to the events to those who sign up for visiting Pokémon Festa on the Pokémon Daisuki Club and who have signed up for a Pokémon Daisuki Club Card.

Additionally, the event attendance will be charged with a yet unknown price. Security bag checks will be performed at the events' entrances to increase security.

The necessity of registering at Pokémon Daisuki Club also has a side effect that turns out to be very uncomfortable for those who were planning to visit Japan this summer and visit Pokémon Festa: The registration of a Pokémon Daisuki Club Card requires a Japanese street address and thus all foreign visitors will be locked out of the event.

Pokémon Festa will be held Aug. 9 through Aug. 14, 2008 at Pacifico Yokohama and Aug. 23 through Aug. 26, 2008 at Kyocera Dome Osaka, Japan.

The decisions for these precautions to the events could be a reaction to the threats against Japanese TCG events that happened in April.
